| Metacritic Reviews. When he (Chris Henry Coffey) arrives, she discovers that he is a man in his late 30s. This was a really good movie. I also liked Woods in it. Will's relationship with his daughter and his wife, Lynn (Catherine Keener), starts to become alienating, and he questions his work at an advertising firm, which uses provocative advertisements involving teenagers. If you ask why it is good? In an interview Schwimmer stated that he always wanted Annie to be played by a 14-year-old, as "there is a danger, if you cast someone who is 18, 19 or 20 to play 14 or 15, that very subtly, almost unconsciously, the audience is, 'Oh, this isn't so bad.'" Aside from that the soundtrack is very good. This movie is about trust and it makes you think in the end if you trusted the right party all along. After months of communicating via online chat and phone, Annie discovers her friend (Chris Henry Coffey) is not who he originally claimed to be. It is amazing how much preconceived notions of what a movie is going to be can effect your reaction to it. So don't let you initial reaction of it being different stop you from appreciating it. Cage and Wood have great chemistry, bolstered by the sharp patter in the script.
Then. Showing all 4 items Jump to: Summaries (3) ... Later in the end, video camera footage is shown of a man who is recording a young boy who appears to be the mans son. Sounds like a great plot right? The Trust starts out as a brilliant film, but then writes into confusion around the 3rd act, and in the end figuratively leaves you atop a mountain like Frodo and Sam in part one of The Lord of the Rings (TLOTR). In The Trust he is at his wackiest, this dark comedy thriller has him playing a deluded corrupt cop who has a plan to pull of a massive heist with his buddy cop played by Elijah Wood who has no idea of Cage's plan.
I don't know why people are complaining so much about the ending of this movie. Will violently confronts him, but he turns out to be the father of one of Annie's teammates. It is a movie that you can watch twice and give you a different experience the second time but none the less satisfying. If you really don't like him, stop watching his movies! The movie has no real climax except the viewers complete and utter disappointment. Good movie with tension, humor, good soundtrack and surprising twists, Wood and Cage should be ashamed of themselves. Then they decide to rob the place. But together these two really shine!!! Yes, I said "direction".
Directed by Alex Brewer, Benjamin Brewer. It will!!! Okay valiant film fan, read on. She confronts her father, and insists that she just wants to move on with her life.
I thought it was an excellent script, great acting, and all the emotions of a great movie. I guess it's more like a dark comedy/thriller/drama. | I read a few comments on other websites which stated that this movie was a flop.
There, Will sees a man in the crowd taking pictures, whom Will mistakes as one of the men from the registered sex offender list. The best movie with Nicolas Cage in years. Annie's father, Will (Clive Owen), slowly becomes obsessed with catching Charlie; he hires a private investigation firm in New Jersey and even steals a collection of his daughter's chat conversations from the FBI. So I thought them acting together, might work. User Ratings
The assaulted man chooses not to press charges, realizing that in doing so he will inadvertently reveal that he is a sexual predator. In the seven years of development, about 50 drafts of the script were written. But what starts out as a silly neo-noir veers suddenly toward a darker realm as Cage's goofy Las Vegas police officer (echoes of his BAD LIEUTENANT role, but only echoes) reveals his cold-blooded determination to get at the contents of a secret vault at all costs, causing a rift to occur between him & Wood's softer character.
It does have some hilarious parts in it, but it's not primarily a comedy. | What led cage to want to steal a vault? Plot Keywords I was thinking "wow, haven't seen a good movie with Nicholas Cage in a very long time". I love both Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood so that's what initially drew me to this movie. " The film also has a score of 60 out of 100 on Metacritic based on 18 critics indicating mixed or average reviews. & for its first half, THE TRUST is funny. Awards When he begins kissing her, she tells him to stop, but he pushes her down onto the bed and rapes her, filming the ordeal. In the midst of her father's pursuit of her attacker, Annie begins to see Gail Friedman (Viola Davis), a hospital counsellor.
, Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film four stars out of four and stated in his review that "The bravest thing about David Schwimmer's "Trust" is that it doesn't try to simplify. I like movies that turn away form the expectation that is built up, it is how real life is most of the times. | The critical consensus states "Director David Schwimmer gets some gut-wrenching performances out of his actors but he still lacks the chops to fully ratchet up story tension.
Will forces Annie to vomit up the pills, and she is hastily rushed to a nearby hospital. Her parents Will and Lynn are visited by the FBI Agent Doug Tate that is in charge of the investigation. In Chicago, the fourteen-year-old Annie lives with her family in the suburb and she has been chatting in a teen chat room in Internet with the sixteen year-old Charlie. Despite this film getting below average reviews I still dived in and watched it, and I wasn't disappointed, this film managed to exceed the low expectations I went in with. At school, Brittany, Annie's best friend, confronts Annie after having seen her and Charlie at the mall. His antics aren't overbearing either thanks to co-lead Elijah Wood, who is the stoner counterpart to Cage and loosely serves as the voice of reason. It's like he's been on downers for a while, and now with The Trust, he finally got off those meds. I don't usually feel this way, but I think when I knew what to expect I was able to enjoy it more.
It has been a very long time since Nicolas Cage has done a good movie.
Getting a lot of undeserved hate. Awesome chemistry and hilarious in an "Odd Couple" kind of way!!! The Trust is a heist movie that gives Nicolas Cage his juiciest performance since Kick-Ass and indulges some very kooky Cageian line readings. Maybe that's a problem for some. A teenage girl is targeted by an online sexual predator. This is my first review, because the film started good and then there was this horrible ending! For her fourteenth birthday, Annie Cameron (Liana Liberato) receives a laptop from her parents, and she soon meets Charlie in an online chat room. It's a steady snowball of tragedy whose plot isn't quite shocking but has plenty of unexpected turns around each corner. Anyway the point is I liked it the first time I watched it, but I LOVED it the second time. So much so, that I wish I didn't watch it. Also writing seems humorous and intriguing. Enjoyable film, well worth a watch on a chilled afternoon. Cage has been on a dry run for the past few years. They also play the opposite parts to what I expected of them so it made for an unpredictable watch which I really liked. Don't bother watching! I too don't understand why some have such a problem with the ending. The debut feature of brother filmmaking team Alex and Benjamin Brewer, “The Trust” casts Cage as a seemingly earnest and beleaguered Las Vegas cop. However, she is seduced by Charlie and loses her virginity to her "boyfriend" in a motel.
After seeing pictures of Charlie's other victims, she flees her home and seeks consolation from Friedman, before finally admitting to herself that she was raped. Everyone has their own reaction, but I think this movie delivers a lot more than the average crime film and it's all because of the way it ends. I don't know why the idea of Nicholas Cage and Elijah Wood starring in a crime thriller together is funny to me, but it is. This movie highlights what really talented actors these two guys are and why we've enjoyed watching them for so long!!! Synopsis
